Class A CDL Training

Truck Driver Training for Your Virginia CDL

Since 1999, CDS has been training new CDL drivers in Virginia and nearby states start a successful trucking career. We believe that proper education is the key factor for success as a professional truck driver. At CDS Tractor Trailer Training, students train to become safety-conscious drivers in the trucking industry. During their Class A CDL Training, students will be able to utilize a balance of classroom instruction and hands-on and behind-the-wheel training, students will be prepared to pass both the DMV written CDL exam and skills test.

Class A CDL training prepares students to land an entry-level job operating a Class A commercial motor vehicle. Class A vehicles are defined as any combination of vehicles with GVWR of 26,001 or more pounds provided the GVWR of the vehicles being towed is in excess of 10,000 pounds.

During truck driver training, students learn the skills required by The Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) to earn a Virginia CDL. The CDL training program covers General Knowledge, Air Brakes, and Combination Vehicles as well as the Hazardous Materials Endorsement.  Other trucking Endorsements such as Doubles/ Triples and Tanker are optional. In addition, CDS covers the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations as well as many safety topics necessary to provide a student with the basic knowledge and skill set as an entry-level driver in the trucking industry.
